Sewing 201: Fitting a Pattern to YOU

Written by Kamuela

201: Fitting a Pattern to YOULooking for the Next Steps after Sewing 101 and 102.

Sewing 201  helps you make the transition from new-be-sewer to one who says “I made it” proudly.

Sewing 201: Fitting a Pattern to YOU.

This class is PERFECT for the sewist who feels sure around a sewing machine and knows how to read a pattern BUT still struggles with fit and needs the skills and the courage to altering patterns so they work for you.

Next Classes:

we will be offering this class again in the Winter please check back in January 2017

What makes this class great is what you DO with what you learn.

Patterns, as they are, don’t fit ANYONE!   Most are designed for an hourglass-B-cup-pre-kids-under-25-year-old-body.  This means is you spend a lot of time making something that fits poorly.  Lets change that – lets make clothes that not only fit well but also reflect YOUR taste.
cost $150

In this class:

You will learn to use patterns as a tool instead of an answer to get YOUR fit right.
We tackle curves and armholes, shoulders and necklines.
Includes a quick look at zippers, both the kind you can see and the invisible.
Knowing your fit is the key to getting all your projects to fit well.   You will leave with a fitted shell and pattern that hugs your curves and is a fabulous building block for everything you make next.

First Class: We jump right in with the pattern – so wear the right bra and have a good meal – who are we kidding we eat and it changes the fit of things – so eat and lets build from there.  We will be working from a standard commercial pattern and from there we will alter and shift until we get YOUR fit.

Second Class: We sew up the pieces and work the fit. And learn a few things about zippers.

Third Class: We re-draft the pattern pieces and make sure the fit is prefect and talk about how to alter other commercial patterns to You.

  • That so rocks! Cannot wait to see it put together. I relaly admire that you have stuck with it right after class to see it thru. That’s my biggest failing. Inspiring to see you making such excellent progress!

  • I’m interested in your fitting class but don’t see a way to sign up. There must not be a class scheduled yet. Please let me know what to do next.

I have not thought about offering a sewing 201 class in the mornings. But now i will. I am also planning a change to the 201 class, that might make it a little more inviting to students. Please sign up for our mailing list http://refabulousyou.com/email-signup/ so you can watch for the changes we make both to the class and to the times. I am currently working the summer calendar out and am trying to fit in a morning version of 201. thanks for the question – I hope we can meet your needs.
