Sewing 201 helps you make the transition from new-be-sewer to one who says “I made it” proudly.
Sewing 201: Fitting a Pattern to YOU.
This class is PERFECT for the sewist who feels sure around a sewing machine and knows how to read a pattern BUT still struggles with fit and needs the skills and the courage to altering patterns so they work for you.
we will be offering this class again in the Winter please check back in January 2017
What makes this class great is what you DO with what you learn.
Patterns, as they are, don’t fit ANYONE! Most are designed for an hourglass-B-cup-pre-kids-under-25-year-old-body. This means is you spend a lot of time making something that fits poorly. Lets change that – lets make clothes that not only fit well but also reflect YOUR taste.
In this class:
You will learn to use patterns as a tool instead of an answer to get YOUR fit right.
We tackle curves and armholes, shoulders and necklines.
Includes a quick look at zippers, both the kind you can see and the invisible.
Knowing your fit is the key to getting all your projects to fit well. You will leave with a fitted shell and pattern that hugs your curves and is a fabulous building block for everything you make next.
First Class: We jump right in with the pattern – so wear the right bra and have a good meal – who are we kidding we eat and it changes the fit of things – so eat and lets build from there. We will be working from a standard commercial pattern and from there we will alter and shift until we get YOUR fit.
Second Class: We sew up the pieces and work the fit. And learn a few things about zippers.
Third Class: We re-draft the pattern pieces and make sure the fit is prefect and talk about how to alter other commercial patterns to You.
