We have all seen the TV show Project Runway – the drama, the fast pace and finally the fashion. Our Sew Fab design group is all about the PROJECT. We move at a human pace and support each other to create the projects we dream of – NO stress, NO drama – just fab fashion and YOU.
If you have a creative desire, but don’t know where to start, this is the program for you. We might have the pattern you are looking for, we have hundreds of patterns, or inspire an ideas and jumping off place. We have surgers at the ready and lots of great little bits to inspire the creative in you. If you want to create with other people – we have got those too! Join this community and you get lots more then table space and good lighting – you get to play with creative people and laugh and everyone cheers when you finish a project. It just that kind of fabulous.
Advanced Beginner: You can thread the machine comfortably, have used a pattern and can sew in a straight line. You feel comfortable with the basics and are excited to try more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing with patterns and could use help manipulating the patterns to fit your body. You want to add some new skills into the mix; like zippers, finish and detail work

This Happi coat (a traditional Japanese straight-sleeved coat) was made from 6 Aloha shirts – I made it for my aunt who lost my uncle last year. It was so beautiful see the love in her eyes when I gave it to her. Proving that sometimes the fabric you make something from is what gives meaning to the design — sounds like a good life lesson too. I was able to make 2 happi coats from the fabric, I gave the other one to my cousin. Both women tell me when they wear these they feel a little closer to the man they loved so deeply.* Sewist much have completed Sewing 101 & 102 to join this program. For teens this can include after school sewing and/or summer sewing 100 and a sewing 102.
