  • This is a great place. The workshop has lots of space, tables, and lighting, and the atmosphere is supportive and friendly. I was nervous about starting my camping gear projects because it had been years since i last used a sewing machine. Kamuela provided the right amount of instruction, guidance, and patience, and I never felt awkward asking for help. I completed my projects and had a blast doing it! Plus i enjoyed the coffee. Thank you.

  • Having moved to Olympia just a few months ago, I found myself searching through local businesses online to see what this new town had to offer. I came across the (re)fabulous website and quickly stopped in to see what was happening there. I have always had a strong desire to sew, but how do you ever learn something like that without a teacher? Kamuela is amazing, and has impacted my life forever. She has an uncanny ability to teach the very basics. During my Sewing 101 I learned how to operate a sewing machine with unbelievable ease, allowing me to create actual wearable fantastic things. I have become obsessed with “what can I sew next”! Also, it is always so much fun to spend time amongst others who share similar interests. Why would I ever sew at home alone?!?! I wish I could spend all day every day at (re)fabulous making wearable art!

  • Hanging out at Refabulous has re-inspired my desire to be a fun and functional seamstress. I came twice with my daughters and once by myself to make the work apron and came home with great items that I love showing off and saying, “I made them!” It’s started my creative juices flowing now and I want to go back for more!

  • In planning ahead for Christmas, Refabulous gives me options! I’ll have a space to spread out all the makin’s of the quilts I want to make for my grandkids with those fabulous rotary-cutter-friendly cutting tables. I’ll sew the quilts together at Refabulous so there’s no risk of the kids stopping by my house and seeing their quilts in the works. While I’m there, I’ll learn about all the new classes which will give me ideas for other gifts! And, I’ll be working in a friendly, supportive atmosphere where I can stop for a latte and one of Kamuela’s pink-frosted sugar cookies when I need a break! Can life be better than THAT?

  • (Re)Fabulous is my favorite place in Olympia. I have no sewing background. I first came in thinking I couldn’t take lessons because my son had just been born and we were not ready to be apart but Kamuela gave me private lessons with many breaks for breastfeeding, diaper changing and the lot. Over the months I have come in with sewing project ideas ranging from the perfect sized swaddling blanket, bibs lined with towels and a reversible waterproof hooded blanket. Anything I can dream up Kamuela (the owner) is there with creative ideas to help make it work.

  • A perfect space to work and create! I was putting together a quilt for my child’s kindergarten class and (re) fabulous was ideal for us to meet, plan, and get our project going. This studio is a wonderful, dare I say fabulous, place to sew with all of the tools to get professional results. I especially enjoyed getting to use her very large cutting table with rotary cutter and fancy rulers that completely changed the results I getting at home with a pair of scissors on my kitchen floor. Kamuela was very kind, helpful and inspiring and steered us into directions that saved us valuable time, effort and frustration. Her Pfaff overlocker alone, has me drooling to come back and take one of her dress making classes. Thank you so much for saving the day!

  • Great projects and just tooooo much fun! Thursday nights are a great way to get to know the studio and experience the creativity! You always have such great ideas/projects!
